| Name: | Aoyagi Misaki (OU) |
|---|---|
| Birthdate: | 1985-01-09 |
Character: Aoyagi Misaki
Series/Fandom: Loveless
Original or Alternate: Original
Age: 40 (this is a guess—it's never stated in canon, I'm guessing with Seimei's and Ritsuka's ages as a basis.)
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance: Misaki looks, to put it simply, a rather typical-stereotypical Japanese housewife. She has straight black hair framing the edges of her face, reaching to mid-back. She has pale skin and dark eyes. Always in slippers and either a nightgown or casual clothing, she usually has only a suspicious, watchful, or angry expression on her face.
Personality: Misaki is not exactly stable. Since Seimei's alleged murder and Ritsuka's complete opposite personality change, Misaki herself has been affected.
The most noticeable part of her personality is her obsession with her sons, and the delusions she has about them. She thinks that Seimei is still alive and will return home soon and that Ritsuka is not 'her' Ritsuka. She can become paranoid and extremely obsessive about these, to the point that she hallucinates about Seimei if someone mentions him, or cooking food that 'her' Ritsuka liked to see if the 'imposter' Ritsuka really is just that.
Misaki can be overly worrying, paranoid, and detached, but can also be extremely violent and uncontrollable, depending on if she sees Ritsuka as her own or as an imposter. Her opinion of him changes and fluctuates, as though she can't remember what she has decided about him. She often verbally degrades and physically abuses Ritsuka when he is the 'imposter' (and sometimes hates herself for losing control). But when he isn't, Misaki has more control over herself and will gladly do anything for him to make him happy—but when she does this, she isn't necessarily happy herself. Nowadays, no one ever sees Misaki happy.
Abilities/Strengths: Her strengths are far and few in between. She can cook and clean exceptionally well, and can probably fight with common household items like forks and brooms. She definitely has enough strength to drown and seriously harm children (when they aren't resisting, at least). She seems to have a good, photographic memory. Beyond that, though…Misaki is simply too unstable.
Weapons: If need be, anything, really. When Misaki gets into a fit, everything is dangerous.
Weaknesses: Mental stability. Hallucinations, delusions, easily manipulated, overly devoted, unhappy, and uncontrollable. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Misaki is a complete wreck of the mind and has very little reality to hold onto. You could be a ten-foot giant with blond hair and missing eyes, but if you said you were Seimei, Misaki would eagerly believe you. And once she thinks she's talking with Seimei, she is so easy to manipulate, it's not even manipulation—it's just simply telling her things.
Beyond that, Misaki has no exceptional physical or magical skills. She is the average Japanese housewife, no more, no less.
History: Aoyagi Misaki had the unpleasant misfortune to be an abused child. Her parents were ridiculously strict on everything she did, and when she disobeyed her parents, she would be slapped, hit, and other degrees of abuse. She was brought up knowing that a child always had to obey their parents, under any circumstances. No exceptions. But despite it all, it didn't change her too badly, and she managed to triumph over her abusive childhood, leaving her family once she got to college and marrying into the Aoyagi family. (I'm guessing at her childhood, actually, but there have been canon hints dropped about her being an abused child.)
She had a baby boy, and his name was Seimei. Misaki and her husband (not named in canon) were overjoyed. Five years later, they had another boy, this time named Ritsuka. They took to each other straight away, and they were a very happy family, straight out of the fairytale ending.
Then, something happened and Ritsuka was ten years old when he did a total personality 180, along with losing all of his memories. It was then that Misaki became abusive, and her husband became nothing more than a photo: there for show, but not really doing anything. The one who protected Ritsuka from Misaki's crazy bouts of abusiveness was Seimei. Misaki on the outside was nothing more than a monster on the loose—but inside, she felt absolutely disgusted at what she'd been doing. However, she was right, wasn't she? This was how she was brought up, with strict parents and being hit every time she disobeyed, and she came out fine, right? Unfortunately, her husband didn't do anything to help.
And then, Seimei was supposedly murdered, burnt so badly that the only way he could be identified was through his dental records. Immediately, Misaki moved her family elsewhere and established life in a new town. Ritsuka started going to therapy to try and uncover the reason for his personality change and amnesia. But Misaki always undid all the progress in the therapy, because as soon as Ritsuka came home, she began to tell him that he wasn't her Ritsuka and he didn't belong here, and similar damaging things, and the pattern continued.
She then started to notice that Ritsuka was outside more often, and sometimes, people would come to the door asking for him, or people would call home for him. She began denying all the time, saying Ritsuka was sick or not home, and would tear herself apart cooking for hours for when Ritsuka came home or trying to find out where he was. Her entire life revolved around Ritsuka and what he did.
One particular incident was when Ritsuka had skipped school and pulled an all-nighter to talk with the organization Nana no Tsuki online—not like Misaki knew that bit. When he came home, Misaki had already torn up half the neighbourhood with phone calls about him. She was angry, but she also was beyond her usual self. She had gotten so out of control that she didn't even know what she was doing, and tried to drown Ritsuka in the bathtub, telling him that if he couldn't obey her and if he didn't want to stay in this house, he should just "die."
Misaki locked herself in her room and tried to get Ritsuka to go away, in hysterics again. By this point, Misaki had pretty much lost what sanity she had left, and when the phone rang, she immediately thought it was Seimei. In fact, it was someone asking for Ritsuka to come out and meet them at the park—which Ritsuka did, but only after putting his mother to bed.
The phone call wasn't the end of it, though—soon, someone came into the house, claiming he was Seimei. It was, in fact, Akame Nisei, Seimei's Fighter. Nisei said that he wasn't able to come home because of Ritsuka, and said that in order for him to come home to her, Ritsuka would have to die.
So the next day, she tied Ritsuka to a chair and decided not to let him go out. She called the school and told them he was sick, and anyone who visited would be chased away. She decided to keep Ritsuka indoors, no matter what, and would keep him locked up there, because she suddenly felt that she'd be lost without him, and she was worried that he would be killed.
She left the house to go shopping for some of Ritsuka's and Seimei's favourite foods, making sure Ritsuka was bundled up in rope before she went. But when she returned, he was gone, and a day later, still hadn't returned. Before she could pursue the matter further, she was pulled into Econtra.
